New Product Development Manager

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, our NPD Manager will lead the development of our product range from concept to market launch and help us develop our capabilities in this area. This role involves influencing and supporting cross-functional teams, conducting category/ market/ trends research, and ensuring that all products are delicious and meet quality and regulatory/ technical standards. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for food, strong project management skills, and a proven track record in product development with either a food or technical background (ideally both).For this role we can be flexible on hours, the role can be part-time or 5 short days, this can be discussed at interview.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Development: searching out new opportunities. Lead the ideation, development, and commercialisation of new food products, ensuring alignment with market trends and consumer preferences.
  • Market Research: conduct thorough market analysis to identify consumer needs and the competitive landscape and utilise insights to guide product concepts.
  • Project Management: oversee the entire product development process, from initial concept through to production and launch, managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: work closely with operations, marketing, sales, finance, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product launches and alignment with business goals.
  • Quality Assurance: ensure all new products meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements; coordinate taste testing and consumer feedback sessions.
  • Innovation Strategy: contribute to the company’s innovation pipeline by proposing new ideas and improvements for existing products based on consumer insights, trends and business efficiency.
  • Customers: bring our customers on the journey, managing their needs to ensure product success.

Requirements

  • Appropriate experience in food technology and food product development
  • Proven product launches that you played a lead role in, and you are proud of
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Great project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to tight timelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal skills and team working skills.
  • Experience with sensory evaluation and consumer testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of current food trends and market trends and dynamics.
  • Familiarity with food formulation and production processes.
